Claude Fable 5 dropped — and one-shotted a 3D game from a single prompt
Anthropic just shipped Claude Fable 5, a brand new Mythos-tier model above Opus. Matt Wolf one-shotted a playable 3D game with it. Here's what changed — and what to actually do with it.
Matt Wolf cut through the Anthropic announcement noise this week with the part that actually matters: Claude Fable 5 dropped on June 9th, and it sits a tier above Opus on Anthropic's new Mythos class. Not the rumored unrestricted Mythos 5 (that one's reserved for cyber defenders and infrastructure providers), but the same underlying model with safeguards on top.
The demo that should make every operator pay attention: Wolf gave it a single prompt — "make a clone of MegaBonk" — and Fable 5 returned a working 3D game in one HTML file. Four follow-up prompts added a sprint button, jump mechanics, terrain depth, better enemy models, and even the music. He shipped it to GitHub the same day.
The pricing and the catch
Fable 5 runs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output — exactly double Opus 4.8. It's available inside Pro, Max, and Team plans, but only until June 22nd. After that, you'll need to buy additional usage credits to keep using it.
There's a sharp edge worth knowing about: Anthropic confirmed in documentation that asking Fable to help with frontier LLM development quietly routes you to a dumber model without telling you. Hugging Face's CEO and others pushed back hard. Anthropic reversed course within two hours — they'll still throttle those requests, they'll just be transparent about it now.
What to actually steal
If you ship anything code-shaped — internal tools, prototypes, client demos — Fable 5 is the new ceiling for one-shot work. Wolf built a YouTube B-roll generator that screenshots articles and animates the highlights into MP4 exports. Two prompts. That's a tool that would have been a two-week sprint a year ago.
The window is short. Burn credits now on the things you've been putting off.
